Swamp Thang

When I first discovered Kurtis Blow’s 1984 masterpiece, “Basketball,” the World was in a post-Kurtis/pre-YouTube era.  So, until I heard it again last night, it never even occurred to me that this song might have a video.  

But of course it does.  It’s one of the greats.  

And while there’s an era-appropriate amount of dance-fighting in this video, there’s an extreme lack of NBA cameos.  And that’s not the cheerleading squad I imagined. 

Regardless, “Basketball” should be the “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” of the NBA. 

…And let’s forget about the Lil Bow Wow version.
